It is believed that Chinese incursion into Galvan is linked to Beijing's concerns over the construction of this highway, which gives Indian forces all-weather access to the region. The highway is a major strategic gateway at Karakoram Pass, from where Indian Army soldiers can monitor the Chinese situation inside Aksai Chin. The road also passes through the Indian Air Force air route to Daulat Beg Oldi,
Where transport aircraft fly with soldiers for equipment and supplies. Without a new road, there was only one way to reach Daulat Beg Oldi and other areas in the north sector which are closed by heavy snow during the winter in high altitude areas.

These new pictures of June 25 and 26 point to Chinese mobilization and construction to this extent for the first time. According to the satellite imagery experts NDTV is in contact with, LAC has more than 16 Chinese army camps in 9 km area along with hundreds of trucks, off-road vehicles and heavy machinery like bulldozers and JCB.
